Redesign the Sorell Council website to make it highly user-friendly, easy to navigate, and efficient in helping residents find information

Current situation

  • The Sorell Council website is difficult to navigate, making it hard for residents to find the information they need.
  • In contrast, other Tasmanian Council websites are more user-friendly and easy to navigate.

What is the issue

  • The website requires a complete redesign to ensure residents can easily and quickly access information and contact the most appropriate Sorell Council staff to assist taking best practice from other Council websites.

My plan

  • Redesign the Sorell Council website to make it highly user-friendly, easy to navigate, and efficient in helping residents find information and contact the appropriate people.
  • Engage residents throughout the design process to ensure the website meets community needs.
  • Apply for state or federal grants specifically targeting digital infrastructure or local government innovation projects.
  • Review other Tasmanian Council websites to identify effective features and best practices, rather than starting from scratch.

The benefits

  • Residents can easily access the information they need, improving their experience when interacting with Council.
  • Reduced demand on the Council customer service staff as residents can find answers online.
  • Increased efficiency of Council operations through a more streamlined online presence.
