Community conversation and doorknocking training

Over the next 12 months, we will have thousands of conversations with residents to hear about local issues and gather ideas on how we can improve our streets and neighbourhoods. These ideas will form the basis of what I bring to the October 2026 Council election.

The best way to understand the issues in our community is to chat with local residents and that’s where you come in

We are building the biggest doorknocking campaign in Tasmania to understand how we, as a Council and community, can improve the lives of residents

In this training session, you will learn how to have open and friendly conversations with your neighbours, ask about local issues, discuss ideas, and explore ways to improve our neighbourhoods. It is not about trying to convince people, it is about building connection, finding common ground, and meeting people where they are at

I personally find that the more conversations I have like this, the more I realise how much we all have in common!

This training not just for volunteers who will be doorknocking, but everyone interested in having conversations with people in our community about local issues is encouraged to come along. These are just great life skills. Think of conversations at Christmas with that one family member!
